Ahead of one of the most awaited Grand Slam championships The Roland-Garros, and the Olympic games, Paris is being transformed into a sports arena. Being one of the only tournaments played on clay – one of the oldest and finest surfaces in the history of tennis. It is well known that the Roland Garros is an unmissable event for sports lovers and others alike. In 2023, it attracted over 630,000 in-person spectators and was broadcast in 220 countries worldwide.
As we get closer to the Roland-Garros 2024, it's time to experience the emotion in the heart of the best shopping spot from Paris: Galeries Lafayette! In light of the French Open, Galeries Lafayette’s Paris Haussmann, Champs Elysées and Beaugrenelle stores are playing host. Taking place from May 26 - June 9, the rooftop terrace of the Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann store will be transformed into a hub for all tennis lovers. For the two-week duration, the luxury store will provide a direct portal to the centre court at Roland-Garros with a live broadcast of the matches on giant screens. The bonus? Enjoy a panoramic view of Paris from the store’s magnificent rooftop terrace while watching the game.
The Capsule Collection
But Galeries Lafayette is also helping you get ready for the tournament! If you can't find the perfect choice, look towards Galeries Lafayette's third new collection dedicated to Roland-Garros, available for men and women. The colour palette is inspired by the sunsets visible from the Galeries Lafayette terrace and the iconic central court tournament Philippe Chattier.
This colourful and exclusive collection of clothing and accessories can be found in the Roland-Garros pop-ups at Galeries Lafayette’s Paris Haussmann, Champs Elysées and Beaugrenelle stores from May 22 to June 11, and in the flagship store at Stade Roland-Garros throughout the tournament.
What's New At The Roland Garros 2024
From May 20 to June 9, the show will be back on clay at Porte d'Auteuil for a new exciting edition. This year’s tournament will feature a night session on the first Sunday, 26 May. In total, 11-night sessions will be scheduled from May 26 to June 5. The matches will begin at 8.30 pm CEST (11 pm IST).
After a record attendance of 50,000 in 2023, this year it will grow to 75,000. Furthermore, this year for the first time, Suzanne-Lenglen Court will host the best matches of the qualifiers. Additionally during the Opening Week, visitors will also be able to attend the practice sessions of a host of top players on Philippe-Chatrier court. And, for the first time, Meet and Greet with the players will also be held in the new Tenniseum area.
The French Tennis Federation (FFT) is celebrating those French players who have excelled globally from 1891 to the present day with the inauguration this year of the French Tennis Walk of Fame in the heart of the Roland-Garros stadium. This pathway, located between the Village and Philippe-Chatrier court, will allow the public to walk in the footsteps of the champions who have marked the history of French tennis and to learn about or rediscover their glorious exploits detailed on fifteen arches.
Finally, all spectators will have to present their tickets via the Roland-Garros mobile app to access the stadium. The 2024 version of the Roland-Garros mobile app contains live scores, results, schedules, statistics, articles and exclusive content. So are you ready for the biggest grand slam?
