Triptii Dimri: “I’d love to explore more structured couture pieces and dramatic red carpet looks”

Triptii Dimri has been fast-climbing the ladder in Bollywood. Making her debut in the 2017 comedy Poster Boys, she quickly transitioned to lead roles, captivating audiences in the romantic drama Laila Majnu. But as the years went by, she became known for her eclectic style and feminine picks. While some of her looks leaned towards effortless fashion, others were bold, sartorial picks that ensured she stole the spotlight.

If one were to look at her style evolution, it's been nothing short of experimental. "When I first entered the industry, I played it safe, I leaned toward very minimal, classic looks," the actor told The Style List. "As I’ve grown more confident and started understanding myself better, my style has evolved too. Now, I enjoy experimenting a little more, playing with textures, prints, and silhouettes that I wouldn’t have tried before."

Looking at her IG fits, it reveals her strong affinity for chic silhouettes, playful textures, and vibrant colours. Her versatile wardrobe spans everything from laid-back classics like T-shirts and cargos to voluminous ballgowns and fiery red latex bodycon dresses. Triptii doesn’t shy away from showing off her enviable figure, and it’s clear that bodycon dresses, monochrome ensembles, ruffles, co-ord sets, and tailored silhouettes form the backbone of her wardrobe. From her humble beginnings in the industry to her bold, statement-making fashion moments today, Dimri has truly come into her own.

Speaking to The Style List, she also expressed her desire to explore more structured couture or dramatic red carpet looks, something bold and editorial, yet still reflective of her personality. For Dimri, it’s all about striking the right balance. As the muse for Forever New's Spring/Summer 2025 campaign, we caught up with the actress amidst her busy schedule to chat all things fashion.

What’s your earliest memory of fashion? Was there a moment in your childhood when you first realized, “Wow, I love clothes”?

One of my earliest memories is watching my mother get ready for family functions. She had this effortless grace, the way she draped her saree, the little accessories she chose. I remember being mesmerised by how clothing could transform how someone felt. I think it was during one of those moments, playing dress-up with her dupattas, that I realised how much I loved the idea of expressing myself through clothes.

How would you describe your personal fashion style, and how does it evolve with your roles in films?

I’d describe my personal style as elegant, understated, and effortless. I’m naturally drawn to silhouettes that are timeless, but still have a modern twist, something graceful without being overly dramatic. Comfort is key for me, and I believe when you feel good in what you're wearing, it really shows.

My roles certainly influence my view of fashion. Each character brings a fresh perspective, and I often find myself gravitating towards styles I wouldn’t have considered before. It keeps me open to experimentation while staying authentic to who I am.

As an actor, how much does fashion play a role in shaping your characters? Can you share an example of a film where fashion was pivotal to your portrayal?

Fashion plays a significant role in building a character, it’s one of the first ways we understand who they are. What a character wears reveals so much about their background, personality, and emotional state. It helps me step into their world and tell their story more convincingly.

In Bulbbul, for instance, the costumes were incredibly important. My character's transformation was mirrored in her attire—from the innocence of soft, traditional garments to bold, powerful silhouettes as she embraced her strength. Every detail, from the fabric to the accessories, added depth to the performance. That’s the magic of fashion in film, it silently tells a story.

Are there any trends you're particularly fond of or would love to see make a comeback?

I’ve always loved romantic, feminine details, so I’m very happy to see trends like ruffles, lace, and broderie making a comeback. There’s something timeless and elegant about those delicate textures. I have a soft spot love co-ord sets—they’re effortlessly stylish and incredibly versatile. Another trend I’d like to see more of is structured tailoring with a feminine edge, like waistcoats or fitted jackets paired with softer pieces. It’s the perfect blend of strength and grace.

How do you see yourself styling pieces from Forever New’s latest collection for different occasions, whether it’s a red carpet event or a casual day out?

What I love most about the Summer Odyssey collection is its versatility. For a casual day out, I’d opt for a pastel floral maxi dress paired with minimal accessories and soft waves in my hair—easy and breezy. For a red carpet or special evening, I’d elevate a structured co-ord set with bold accessories, sleek heels, and a striking lip. The beauty of this collection is that you can really dress it up or down depending on the moment, and it always feels polished and feminine.

Any favourite off-duty looks or go-to wardrobe staples?

Off-duty, I like to keep things simple and comfortable. A great pair of high-waisted jeans, soft cotton shirts, breezy dresses, and co-ord sets are my everyday essentials. I also swear by an oversized blazer and a classic pair of white trainers—they work with nearly everything and add a stylish, effortless touch.

Fashion is a great way to express individuality. How do you use clothing to express your mood or personality, both on and off screen?

Fashion is like a silent language, it says so much about how you're feeling. When I’m feeling grounded or empowered, I gravitate towards more structured silhouettes and darker shades. On lighter, carefree days, I go for flowing fabrics, soft florals, and pastel tones. On screen, wardrobe becomes a powerful tool, it helps me fully step into their world and emotions.

If you could have one fashion superpower (like being able to instantly change outfits or

make your heels super comfy), what would it be?

Oh, I’d love the ability to make any pair of heels feel like trainers! I adore wearing heels, especially for events, but let’s be honest—they’re not always the most comfortable. If I could wear heels all day and feel like I’m in flats, that would be the dream.

If you had to choose one Forever New outfit to instantly turn heads wherever you go, what would it be?

That’s a tough one, there are so many standout pieces! But if I had to choose, I’d pick the flowing maxi dress in the Gold Layla Botanical print. It’s vibrant, eye-catching, and has beautiful movement. Paired with delicate earrings and soft-glam makeup, it’s a look that turns heads without trying too hard. It perfectly captures the spirit of summer and the timeless elegance that Forever New is known for.
