The labels we’re loving when the temperatures start to soar.

Hello, Libra season. October is that time of year when the festive calendar starts filling up, invitations begin rolling in, and a wardrobe refresh feels very much in order. Between afternoon coffees, working lunches, last-minute shopping runs and early festive dinners, the month calls for outfits that are equal parts effortless and put-together.

Your October essentials? Pieces that work just as well for everyday plans as they do for the season’s many celebrations. Think playful prints, easy cottons, fluid linen, relaxed co-ords and contemporary Indian sets. Whether you’re dressing up for the big night or looking for something understated for the smaller celebrations in between, these are the homegrown fashion finds worth adding to your wardrobe this October.

SURMA

I keep coming back to Surma for its easy, everyday sets. I own multiple sets myself, and the relaxed tunics, wide-leg trousers and lightweight fabrics are exactly what I reach for when I want to look put-together without thinking too hard about the heat.

NISHORAMA

Nishorama brings a playful energy to Indian dressing, with everything from corset and halter kurtis to easy sets, dresses and statement silhouettes. Breathable cottons, Kalamkari and colourful prints keep things light, while corset backs, halter necks and relaxed cuts give traditional dressing a younger spin.

ROZA PRET

Roza Pret takes a softer route with floral prints, fluid separates and easy tunics. The silhouettes stay relaxed, but richer colours and considered detailing give the pieces enough polish to take you from a daytime plan to an early dinner.

PDKF STORE

Jaipur’s craft heritage gets a playful, contemporary update at PDKF Store. Breezy cottons, colourful checks, florals and relaxed silhouettes make the pieces particularly good for warm days. Add in the Mulmul x PDKF collaboration, including that pink floral set, for another fun take on the brand’s easy summer dressing.

UNNIS BEES (19-20)

Light, cotton separates are the USP of Unees Bees. Think tasselled crop tops, anti-fit palazzos, breezy dresses and easy co-ords, brought to life through block prints, tie-dye and playful stripes and florals. The silhouettes are relaxed, but the colours and prints keep them from feeling too basic.

MULMUL

A celebrity favourite, Mulmul has become synonymous with easy, comfortable dressing. Breezy printed kurta sets, soft pastel co-ords and lightweight dupattas make up the kind of wardrobe you’ll want on repeat when the temperature refuses to drop. The best part? You still look pulled together without feeling overdressed.

SAND BY SHIRIN

Sand by Shirin takes a more fluid approach to dressing, with pieces designed to move with the body rather than work against it. Relaxed linen separates, jumpsuits and softly embellished pieces keep the mood understated, while the looser fits make them particularly appealing.

KAPOOR 2.0

Fearless self-expression and twisted modernity define Dhruv Kapoor’s approach to contemporary dressing. The label’s signature tie-up shirt is the piece to know, with its relaxed shape and distinctive front closure giving the classic shirt a more unexpected spin.

TARA-C-TARA

Jaipur craft gets a colourful, contemporary update at Tara-C-Tara. Breezy printed co-ords, relaxed kurtas, playful checks and florals come together in pieces that feel rooted in traditional techniques without looking overly traditional.

HIMANI PUNATAR LABEL

Himani Punatar Label has become one of my personal summer favourites. I wore a custom-line corset co-ord in black, no less, for an evening Goan soirée in 40-degree heat, and the fabric and fit were so comfortable it quickly became a summer staple. Add its stunning colours, floral handwork and artisanal details, and there’s plenty to love beyond the usual summer whites.

CORD

If you like your summer dressing with a little more character, Cord is worth a look. Indian craftsmanship, vintage-inspired prints and artisanal details meet relaxed silhouettes, resulting in pieces that feel considered without being too precious for everyday wear.

JODI

Jodi has never been shy about colour or print. This season, oversized shirts, embroidered dresses and statement checks make up the label’s playful wardrobe, with unexpected combinations that bring a little more personality to dressing for the heat.

CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2 is an Indian streetwear label known for its linen shirts and co-ord sets. The Drip Linen collection keeps things relaxed and unisex, with easy silhouettes, soft linen and playful colour, from classic shirts to statement tie-dye pieces. It’s the kind of wardrobe that feels laid-back without looking like you’ve given up on getting dressed in the heat.

NICOBAR

Soft palettes and fluid silhouettes are where Nicobar really shines. Delicate floral co-ords, flowing printed dresses and relaxed tunics paired with wide-leg trousers keep the wardrobe understated, while small details like embroidery add just enough interest.

MATI

MATI makes a case for natural-fibre dressing, with breathable fabrics, handwoven textiles and timeless silhouettes at the centre of its collections. The pieces are thoughtfully tailored but easy to wear, balancing clean shapes with a focus on comfort and mindful craftsmanship. For days when the temperature climbs, this is the kind of wardrobe that lets the fabric do the work.
