Obeetee Carpets And Home, A New Chapter For The Luxury Carpet Brand

They say a home is made up of many little details, and Obeetee’s exquisite range of made-in-India carpets has long found its place in some of the most beautiful homes across the world. What began in 1920 as the visionary collaboration of three men, Messrs. Oakley, Bowden, and Taylor, has evolved into one of the most admired names in handcrafted carpets today. A century later, the brand is ready for a new chapter. This year, Obeetee decided it was time to move beyond carpets and explore new categories in the home decor space.

As Angelique Dhama, President at Obeetee, shared, “We were waiting to expand into other categories, especially furniture and textiles. Our India journey began with Proud To Be Indian, and we are a brand deeply rooted in our culture. The natural extension was to grow into more categories for the home. We couldn’t stay away from furniture, which is the largest part of our expansion. We’ve also introduced bed linen — something that’s surprisingly hard to find in high quality.”

Their newly revamped MG Road store embodies this vision, described by President Angelique Dhama as “we wanted it to be an Obeetee home, for you. The space feels alive with a curated range that now includes bed linen, soft furnishings, and a collection of Inde Modern furniture. Each furniture piece has been mastered with attention to ergonomics, ensuring that each couch you sat on wasn't too inclined or too straight, the depth of the chair just right, and comfort reigned supreme. What stood out was that in a world where compressed wood and geometric white furniture have become the norm, Obeetee Carpets and Home chose to stay true to its roots.

The brand has used three primary natural materials: teak wood, brass, and Carrara marble as the foundation for every piece. Creating a unique design, the furniture is carved with circular patterns ( a stark contrast from contemporary furniture), Carrara marble and each piece is decorated with a common inlay motif in brass. Finished in a rich, deep brown hue, the pieces add warmth to every home and are the kind that fits effortlessly into a colonial bungalow in Delhi or a traditional South Indian home. With prices ranging from ₹21,000 to ₹3,00,000, these are versatile and an easy addition.

The textiles complement this aesthetic with an equal focus on detail. Made using 100% cotton percale, handloom weaving, delicate embroidery, and traditional block printing — often blending all three techniques — the collection feels refreshingly artisanal. A muted, elegant colour palette ties it all together, making each piece versatile enough for any season or setting. From linen-blend duvet covers and quilted bedspreads to cushions and throws, it screams quiet luxury.

Looking ahead, OBEETEE plans to open more stores, launch its own online platforms, and work with top designers to bring new ideas to its legacy. With a focus on global growth, the brand aims to share the story of Indian craftsmanship through its carpets, furniture, bedding, and more around the world.
