Vikram Phadnis Celebrated 25 Years in Fashion with 'Merayakan' at Westin Goa

Vikram Phadnis talks about his journey in the fashion industry.

Vikram Phadnis celebrated 25 years in fashion with a grand show at Westin Goa, on 19 March with a collection, titled ‘Merayakan.’ Merayakan was an elaborate display of The Art of Fashion along with Westin Goa's culinary flair, with couture showcased through an elaborate fine dining experience. The night started with a focus on music and food to reflect the creativity and innovation synonymous with the fashion show’s theme.

Phadnis' collection was a celebration of his beautiful journey in the field of fashion, spread over the past 25 years. A Full Bloom is a contemporary Resort Wear collection infused with contrast elements of a black colour palette with metallic hints to give a grunge feel to your resort ensembles. Each piece is crafted with nature-inspired elements. The collection was brimming with a perfect mix of resort and eveningwear. Co-ord sets, gowns, dresses, longline flowy jackets and a stylish twist to functional silhouettes with a lot of shimmer, characterised the collection. Ending the show on a high note was Malaika Arora an all-black shimmer co-ord set team with a cape.

We caught up with Vikram Phadnis to know more about the collection.

Tell us about the new collection and the inspiration behind the range.

The thought was to put on something other than typical resort wear. We infused black into the new resort wear line because it has never been a resort wear colour and people want to wear something uncommon. We also added a lot of black to the yellow, created a lot of butterflies and geometrical patterns and we used a lot of free-flowing fabric.

Throw light on key silhouettes and pieces we should keep an eye out for.

I think a lot of free-flow garments, a lot of resort feel wear, nothing that is structured, and if it is then it should have some character to it.

Why did you pick Westin Goa to showcase your new collection?

The decision to launch it at the Westin Goa was made because Goa is a popular tourist destination in India when it comes to beaches! The location, the collection, and the timing were all perfectly aligned with the objectives we had in mind.

How does the collection tie together fashion and food?

Fashion and Food, both are routine yet creative processes and requires intense thought process. For Merayakan, we celebrated the art of fashion along with a culinary flair.

The collection is exclusively available at Adhvan Goa.
