We might be late to a party this week, but we’re most definitely in time for the hottest bag intervention of the year. The sought-after Fendi Baguette Bag is making a return with reinterpreted designs inspired by the iconic 2022 collection. But this season, we're entering a moment of the Y2K slimline baguette bag, which is making a roaring comeback.
In the spirit of Maximalism
(Reinterpreted Fendi Baguette Bags)

Marking Maria Grazia Chiuri’s return to Fendi, the runway showcased new interpretations of the baguette bag with a radical and expressive take on the statement bags. Having Dakota Fanning wear it early at the Milan Fashion Week, the animal prints and glitz are popping. That’s how we know funky bags are in. Textures, sequins, and doodlage, think something out of an early 2010s movie. Walking a thin line between Y2K expressivity and a breakthrough from minimalist exhaustion, bags this season are designed for standing out with a touch of archival retribution.
East West Bags

Baugette is constantly evolving, and now is the time to familiarise you with its close cousin, the East-West bag. Unofficially called a slimline bag, it is characterised by an elongated body. Unconventional in a market saturated with totes and handbags, these slimline bags add a sense of sophistication and functionality.
Alaia's Le Teckel Bag is how we caught onto this trend. The elongated rectangle style, first showcased as part of the french fashion-houses SS24 collection, became an instant icon. Inspired by the body of the Dachshund, this bag adopts a stretched, narrow body silhouette, offering a fresh take on the baguette bag without sacrificing the defining traits.
Following the trail, Balenciaga’s Le City East West Bag and Chanel’s Small Tote become prominent choices. While the Le City East West Bag sticks to the base concept of a streamlined body that this season asks for, the Small Tote from the Spring Summer 2026 collection is a more relaxed one and relies heavily on classic streetwear and city buzz visuals.
Top Handles That Don’t Disappoint
(Feat. Goyard's Bonbonnière Bag)

If it hasn’t reached your feed yet, it's time to make you aware of the internet’s recent obsession. An exaggerated top-handle bag is the new “it” accessory in the town. We’ve seen it happen to the totes, and it was likely the same would be carried to the baguette bags as well. Cecilie Bag by Poelle is a prime example of how the baguette has yielded to the top-handle mania and incorporated the element. In defence of the attribute, we believe it adds to the functionality of a baguette as an easy-to-carry accessory, not something you find yourself halfway fidgeting.
Followed by Poelle, Goyard's Bonbonnière Bag is next to catch one’s attention, alongside the Prada Bonnie Bag, which has long been a favourite among anyone who appreciates the archival pieces.
Are we over the embellishment scene?
(Feat. Loewe’s Amazona Bag and Miu Miu’s Beau Shoulder Bag)

Unlikely so. We are witnessing a change in scene but not in the medium of expression. Where it all started, from placing alternative charms in the bag, the trend has grown into more intentional additions. Since last year, charms have shifted to convey affirmations and intentions rather than just visual appeal. We are seeing an increase in the use of tassels for silhouette designs, and charms are showcasing a grounded style, as demonstrated in Coach’s Spring Summer 2026 collection. Leather hearts paired with fringe are currently very popular.
Moreover, the prominence of metallic locks and hearts is prevalent, as seen on Loewe’s Amazona Bag and Miu Miu’s Beau Shoulder Bag. So expect customised charms, intent and a relaxed approach to embellishments. The styling sphere has not entirely given up on the furry additions, but it is no longer about flashy visuals, but about visuals that translate something meaningful.
