Why Udaipur Marriott Hotel Deserves a Spot on Your Travel List

Udaipur Marriott Hotel

I've been long waiting for a reason to visit Udaipur. I’ve long been looking for a reason to visit Udaipur. While the city is synonymous with grand Indian weddings, there’s an undeniable charm in experiencing it at your own pace — soaking in its lakes, palaces, and sunsets without a schedule. Located a mere 500 meters from the shimmering Fateh Sagar Lake and cradled by the majestic Aravali Hills, stands one of Marriott’s newest addresses — Udaipur Marriott Hotel. Perfectly positioned for both leisure and business travellers, it’s conveniently located just 35 minutes from Maharana Pratap Airport and 20 minutes from Udaipur City Railway Station.

A 226-room property, the hotel blends the beauty of Mewar architecture with modern designs.  As I arrived at the porch, I was welcomed by hand-painted Pichwai motifs, Mewar-style arches, intricate jharokhas (ornate balconies), and traditional chajjas (carved overhangs). The air was alive with folk music played by local artists, a reminder that I had arrived somewhere special. Adding a touch of glamour to the scene was a bright red vintage Rolls-Royce that stood out against the white backdrop and complemented the blue hand-painted art on the walls. That indeed was my first impression, which left me walking in with a smile.

The lobby instantly drew me in with intersecting arches, soft lighting, and a magnificent chandelier that illuminates the space. But at the heart of the hotel stands a grand staircase, illuminated by a cascading chandelier that felt like walking into a living piece of art. As you move further inside, you step into a spacious lounge that opens into the lush green Jasper Courtyard. It’s the kind of space where you can sit back and soak in the warmth of the winter sun while taking in panoramic views of the city’s skyline. From this point, the hotel’s grand façade comes into full view, revealing its Rajasthani-inspired architecture — arches, domes, and carved balconies that reflect the city’s royal essence.

Rooms with a View

Carrying forward the same design ethos, the rooms and suites at Udaipur Marriott Hotel are inspired by Rajasthan’s royal heritage but fitted with modern comforts. My luxury suite was a peaceful retreat, complete with a spacious living room, a powder room, and a master bedroom with a large bathroom featuring a tub and ample closet space. Earthy tones of cream, beige, and sage green lent a soothing palette. Looking out of the window, the view from the fifth floor overlooked the Jasper Courtyard and the monsoon-washed Aravallis; a picture-perfect sight that you could never tire of.

Up on the terrace, a rooftop pool awaits, alongside Ayana, a soon-to-open fine-dining Indian restaurant overlooking Fateh Sagar Lake. By day, the cabanas bask in sunlight, and by night, the Mewar-style arches and jharokhas glow beautifully under moonlight and dim lighting.

Culinary Excellence

A property that takes immense pride in its culinary offerings, every meal at the Udaipur Marriott Hotel is crafted to be memorable. The hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, Okra, led by Chef Ritesh Sharma and Chef Gambhir Rawat, celebrates both local and global flavours. Their traditional Rajasthani thali is a feast that captures the region’s soul, featuring from Chhach and Lehsun ki Chutney to Hara Pyaaz Sabzi, Panchmel Dal, Bajre ki Roti, Ker Sangri, Laal Maas, Papad Paneer, and Bal Bhaati Churma. Each bite feels like a tribute to Rajasthan’s culinary heritage, leaving you wanting more even after you’re full.

The Perfect Wedding Destination

Udaipur has always been India’s wedding capital, and the Udaipur Marriott Hotel lives up to that legacy. The grand European-inspired staircase sets the scene for picture-perfect couple portraits, while a separate entrance to the ballroom ensures that wedding guests enjoy complete privacy. Thoughtfully designed for the modern bride, the property even features Udaipur’s first-ever Bridal Makeup Room — a dream come true. Imagine a spacious room lined with floor-length mirrors, a private closet and bathroom, a plush lounging area for bridesmaids, and soft baby-blue walls illuminated by a striking chandelier. It’s everything a bride could wish for before her big moment. The best part? It sits just steps away from the ballroom, allowing her to make a grand entrance without being seen beforehand.
