The coming-of-age aficionados have finally taken a stance. Jewellery trends of 2026 aren’t just a hot take on minimalism or a disagreement with quiet luxury, but rather a collective exploration of how this generation chooses to define playfulness.

A trend can be studied from a top-down approach, but once in a while, it takes the opposite approach. This year, everything sounds intentional, affirmational and nostalgic. Be it candy-like gemstones or affirmational runes on jewellery, we are moving towards defining taste rather than mere labels, especially in the country.

Sculptural Metal and Art Deco

It’s unlikely that you’ve skipped past the sculptural revamp of jewellery this year. Ranging from ear cuffs to beaten metal, jewellery is entering a new era with structural themes. Architectural shapes and textures poured into sensory designs, these pieces of jewellery mark a new trajectory for upcoming trends. Aside from sculptural metals, we are witnessing a return of Art Deco-inspired jewellery as seen throughout the Wuthering Heights Tour. Comprising historically relevant pieces and those that carry the essence of an era, jewellery is evolving beyond surface visuals to contextual relevance.

"Born in the 1920s, the Art Deco movement reflected an era of optimism, innovation and modernity, defined by bold geometry, symmetry and architectural precision. It’s remarkable how a century later, the aesthetic continues to resonate so powerfully," comments Mira Gulati, Founder & Principal Designer, Mirari Jewels.

On the same, Nitya Arora, Founder, Valliyan, says, “I think architecture and interiors have really gained a lot of momentum in the last few years since COVID. Just as the roaring 20’s came after the Great Depression. The cycle repeats itself. We are seeing opulent weddings and people dressing up again, hence Art Deco has made a comeback even in jewellery.”

The Rise of Gemstones

With spring festivities upon us, there could not be a better time to dive into the gemstone frenzy. This season, it's about adding a bling-y pop of colour. Major labels like Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Valentino, and Simone Rocha opted out of classic diamonds for their spring-summer collections but have incorporated a myriad of rainbow crystals into their lineup. And that sums up our choice catalogue for spring as well.

"Fashion is moving back toward individuality and character, and gemstones naturally bring that. They introduce colour, emotion and personality, which is why designers are increasingly using them to create jewellery that feels expressive and memorable," says Aalika Parekh and Ashni Bhansali, Co-founders of House of Yarané.

Adding to that dopamine rush, the rise of gemstones and their current formats hints at a fondness for playfulness and reclaiming childlike whimsy in a bustling world. "There is still so much room to experiment with unexpected stone combinations, sculptural placements and modern forms. When gemstones are treated as design elements rather than embellishments, they open entirely new creative directions," concludes the team from House of Yarané.

Return of the Brooches

After gemstones, brooches carry the playfulness into trend reports. From runways to red carpets to inspiration boards and our wish lists, this accessory is everywhere on our feed. Quirky, unconventional, and expressive, we caught the trail of this early spring trend. Given how closely brooches are tied to jewellery, it's often difficult to distinguish the former from the latter, and we couldn’t help but cave into the frenzy.

When asked about why brooches are becoming a favourite, Tiara Dhody, Founder, Treasures by Tiara, says, “Unlike most jewellery, a brooch allows for imagery and narrative to exist without being reduced or abstracted — it can depict a figure, a face, or a symbol and function almost like a miniature sculptural object. Their return suggests a growing comfort with jewellery that embraces character and expression, pointing to a shift toward pieces valued not just for adornment, but for the identities and stories they visibly hold.”

In Favour of Silver

A long-awaited redemption arc has been pending for Silver since last year. Molten-metal visuals with an almost ethereal appearance are visible alongside the sculptural development of jewellery. With asymmetry and expressive designs making their way onto runways, silver is getting the boost it has been waiting for. Given its accessibility to gold, silver naturally has an edge in price.

Yash Katraria, Director, Kataria Group of Companies, adds, “Silver is gaining momentum because it reflects a larger shift in how consumers are approaching style, more fluid, less occasion-bound, and rooted in everyday wear. It complements the current preference for cooler palettes and minimal, layered looks, while still allowing room for bold, statement pieces.”

On whether this shift is short-lived or a brief moment before a long one, Yash says, "As design continues to evolve and consumers become more open to mixing metals, silver is likely to remain a consistent and growing category rather than a passing phase.”
