The Black Shepherd, Mumbai
A rare ode to British cuisine in Mumbai, The Black Shepherd is an intimate 26-seater in Bandra that champions authenticity over adaptation. Helmed by chef-founder Rahul Kotak, the restaurant reimagines Britain’s timeless pub culture with soulful storytelling, hearty-yet-refined plates, and interiors steeped in nostalgia. Expect classics like fish and chips with triple-cooked fries, Shepherd’s Pie layered with slow-cooked meat, golden-skinned jacket potatoes, and a buttermilk fried chicken burger already earning a cult following. Desserts lean indulgent yet thoughtful, from delicate madeleines to Rahul’s now-iconic brownies perfected over years. With a bottomless hot chocolate ritual and a soundtrack of British rock, The Black Shepherd is as much a celebration of memory and music as it is of honest food—and it’s one of the city’s most distinctive new arrivals.

Burma Burma Opens Three New Restaurants In Delhi-NCR
In a city that thrives on food and experiences, Burma Burma continues to win hearts with its immersive approach to dining. India’s only pan-India Burmese restaurant and tea room, part of Hunger Pangs Pvt. Ltd., has just expanded its presence with three new restaurants across Delhi-NCR — at DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj; Worldmark 3, Aerocity; and Worldmark 65, Gurugram. With this, the brand now boasts six locations in the region, each blending authentic Burmese flavours with thoughtful design storytelling.
Guests can expect a menu that celebrates Burma’s vibrant culinary traditions — from street food and heirloom recipes to dishes inspired by research trips across the country. No visit is complete without the beloved Khowsuey, alongside an evolving selection of soul bowls, refreshing coolers, and desserts with a Burmese twist.
Adding to the experience is the limited-edition From Burma with Tea menu, available August 1 to September 30, 2025, at the new locations, and across all 18 restaurants in seven cities through September. Inspired by Burmese tea houses, the menu features traditional pulled teas, hearty snacks, and soulful bowls meant for sharing.
Robata Kuuraku, Mumbai
Straight from the bustling lanes of Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, Robata Kuuraku has landed in Mumbai at the city’s newest dining hotspot, Gourmet Village, introducing diners to the warmth and theatre of an authentic Japanese izakaya. Established in 1999, the brand has grown across Japan, Canada, and Sri Lanka, earning acclaim for its signature robatayaki — skewers of fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables slow-grilled over open flames to perfection. The newest Mumbai outpost stays true to its roots with an expansive menu of small plates designed for sharing, alongside refreshing Japanese-inspired cocktails and sake. With its convivial setting, emphasis on culinary craftsmanship, and the buzz of communal dining, Robata Kuuraku is poised to bring a slice of Tokyo’s spirited food culture to Mumbai’s thriving restaurant scene, making Gourmet Village an unmissable stop for the city’s gourmands.

New Menus
New Menu by Chef Rahul Akerkar at Ode, Mumbai
Since its debut, Ode has been Mumbai’s quiet revolution in fine dining, and with Chef Rahul Akerkar’s new 22-dish menu, the narrative only gets richer. The Bhavnagri Chili Tempura, crackling and airy, finds balance in a smoky-sweet potato romesco. Akerkar’s travels inspire the Bucatini Peperone “Carbonara”, where roasted red peppers replace the traditional egg-and-bacon richness without losing an ounce of indulgence. Vegetables take centre stage with dishes like the Grilled Miso Napa Cabbage Caesar, elevated by dhondas croutons — a nod to his grandmother’s kitchen. Seafood lovers will linger over the playful Ode to Prawn Cocktail, while the final notes are pure decadence: Truffle Crème Brûlée with its earthy-sweet finish and a dense, silken Dark Chocolate Basque Cheesecake. With cocktails and a thoughtfully expanded vegetarian repertoire (thanks to Mrs.Arkekar) rounding out the experience, Ode’s new menu is less about reinvention and more about refinement.

Bang Bang! Noodle, Mumbai
There’s something quietly radical about what chef Rahul Punjabi is doing at Bang Bang! Noodle in Goregaon. In a city of concept-heavy menus and rising price tags, this pocket-sized noodle bar delivers unpretentious, soul-hugging food that’s both thoughtful and thrilling — and all under ₹500. Inspired by his years in Sydney and late-night Chinatown pitstops, Punjabi builds flavour through memory: hand-pulled MaLa noodles tossed tableside in a slick of sesame, soy, black vinegar and that now-famous house chilli oil; wontons that swim in it; chilli oil ice cream that rounds off a menu built for pleasure, not performance. It’s intimate, affordable, and refreshingly ego-free — the kind of place Mumbai didn’t know it was missing.
Harajuku Tokyo Café & Bakehouse, Mumbai
Harajuku Tokyo Café & Bakehouse has arrived at Jio World Drive, marking the cult Delhi brand’s Mumbai debut. The new outpost expands into a full-scale Japanese restaurant, bar, and patisserie, bringing conveyor belt sushi, robata grills, soufflé pancakes, and a standalone Bakehouse under one roof. Founded by Gaurav Kanwar with chefs Asami Indo and Higuchi Nariaki, it shifts effortlessly from a bright, boba-fuelled café by day to an izakaya-style bar by night, complete with sake bombs, karaoke, and anime-inspired cocktails. The menu runs from truffled hamachi carpaccio and spicy miso ramen to robata-glazed king oyster mushrooms, while the Bakehouse next door turns out shokupan sandos, Japanese cheesecakes, and even a pet-friendly selection.
One 8 Commune Opens In Lower Parel
One8 Commune has opened its doors in Worli, bringing Virat Kohli’s all-day dining brand to South Mumbai with a moodier, more intimate edge. Designed by Aayushi Malik, the 3,800 sq ft space trades the bustle for a slower, more considered energy — all curved lines, veined marble, velvet, and warm, cinematic lighting. A central, high-energy bar sets the tone, while a tucked-away cigar and cocktail lounge offers dimly lit nooks for unhurried conversations. The menu ranges from Gochujang Wontons and Thecha Fish Roulade to Butter Chicken Bombolini and Sweet Potato Gnocchi, capped with playful desserts like XO Chocolate Truffle and Cherry Shot Cake, many of which are personal favourites of Kohli himself.
The Lakehouse by Amanora, Pune
Set on the edge of Amanora’s township and entirely embraced by a private lake, The Lakehouse is a serene ode to slow living and mindful design. Architect Faizan Khatri’s 10,000 sq. ft. space draws on the warmth of lake retreats, lime-plastered walls, reclaimed wood, aged brass, and soft curves that cocoon you in quiet luxury. The mood shifts gently from breezy alfresco lunches on the waterside deck to intimate, golden-lit dinners indoors. The vegetarian-forward, ingredient-led menu balances global technique with seasonal produce, much of it grown on-site. Highlights include Baked Burrata with Truffle Oil, Mushroom ‘Foie Gras’ with tamarind jam, Gnocchi with Gorgonzola Roma, Lobster & Chive Dumplings, Lamb Shank Bourguignonne, and the indulgent Luxury Butter Chicken with crisp roomali roti chips. Desserts like Litchi Rabri Panna Cotta and Burnt Basque Cheesecake with pistachio gianduja bring familiar comfort with refined presentation. The cocktail program mirrors the setting: botanical, restrained, and nature-inspired. From the floral gin-and-butterfly-pea By the Lake to the house-aged Smoked Negroni, every pour is layered with intent and designed for unhurried sipping. At The Lakehouse, time slows — whether you’re watching light ripple across the water or letting a perfectly balanced martini linger into dusk.
Kalpaney, Bengaluru
Tucked into a quiet lane in JP Nagar, Kalpaney is quietly rewriting the story of vegetarian dining in India. Conceived by hospitality professional Avinash Kapoli and chef Sombir Chaudary, the restaurant takes its name from kalpana — imagination — and builds an entire experience around it. The menu is rooted in memory yet reimagined with global sensibilities. The drinks list follows the same philosophy, leaning on Indian staples and indigenous traditions rather than spirit imitations. Preeti Prema, a floral, clarified take on Mohobbat ka Sharbat, layers watermelon, rose, saffron, and bubbles, while Imli ka Khajur spins Shikanji into something new with tamarind, ginger, date molasses, vegan foam, and smoked Himalayan salt.
Designed to feel like a home that’s evolved over time, the 90-cover space is warm with wood, soft light, and Kalamkari-inspired tones of red, green, and mustard. Playful artworks — from Brinjal Baba to The Perpetual Supper — and story cards alongside dishes deepen the sense of intimacy. Kalpaney avoids easy labels like “fine dining” or “casual.” Instead, it offers stillness: a place where guests are encouraged to put away their phones, savour each course, and end their meal with jaggery.
New Menus
Pass The Salt's One-Year Anniversary Menu- Kalaghoda, Mumbai
A year in, Pass The Salt continues to charm with food that’s equal parts personal and playful. Chef Kruti Sanghvi’s limited-edition first anniversary menu is a tribute to memory and mischief — from sandwiches inspired by childhood tiffins and impromptu kitchen experiments to bold deep-dish pizzas like the earthy Wild Shroom and the fiery, cheese-stacked Firehouse. Citrus-kissed Limone e Tartufo and spicy Fiamma keep things bright and bold on the thin-crust front, while desserts like the nostalgic coconut panna cotta, Froot Loops Tres Leches, and boba-topped affogato round out a celebration that’s layered, heartfelt, and full of flavour.
The Dimsum Room's All-New Menu
The Dimsum Room has rolled out a new menu from Culinary Director Chef Mrigank Singh, shaped by his years cooking in Hong Kong’s teahouses, street stalls, and Michelin-starred kitchens. With over 55 dim sum on offer, the refresh introduces Peking Dumplings in spiced soy broth, fiery Sichuan Peanut & Chilli Dressing Dumplings, and delicate leaf-wrapped creations like Pok Choy-wrapped Zucchini & Artichokes and Spinach-Wrapped Chicken. Small plates range from soy-ginger Cured Salmon to double-style Pork Belly, while larger plates reimagine Hong Kong comfort classics — think Lobster Butter Garlic with burnt garlic noodles, Hainanese Chicken Rice, 48-hour marinated Cantonese Roast Duck, and Xinjiang-spiced Twice-Cooked Lamb Chops. Bowls like Dan Dan Noodles and Lou Rou Fan double down on soulfulness, while playful desserts such as Sweet Mango Buns and Hong Kong-Style French Toast close the experience. The Listening Room soundtrack and warm, attentive service make this Kala Ghoda favourite as transportive as the menu itself.

Royal China, The Chanakya, New Delhi, New Menu

When it comes to delicious Cantonese and Chinese food, no one does flavour quite like Royal China. As someone who’s been a loyal fan for years, I always leave the restaurant happy, and ever since they moved to The Chanakya in New Delhi, the quality has been truly top-notch. My go-to dishes like the Flaming Chicken, Baked Pork Puffs, Banana Leaf Rice, and Prawn Dim Sums never disappoint. And now, with a fresh set of dishes added to the menu, there’s even more to enjoy.
The highlight of this update is the expanded Dim Sum menu, which once again proves why Royal China is so well-loved for these bite-sized delights. New favourites include the crispy and spicy Chicken Cheung Fun, the flavourful Basil Chicken Dumpling, and two great vegetarian options—the Edamame and Asparagus Dumpling, and the beautiful Poached Vegetable Dumpling served with Chilli Soya. Each one is carefully steamed and full of flavour, showing off the kitchen’s skill and attention to detail.
The Edamame and Asparagus dumplings are soft and just melt in your mouth. The Truffle Mushroom Soup is warm, rich, and comforting. If you’re in the mood to try something different, go for the Sautéed Chicken with Green Chilli, the Salt and Pepper Calamari, or the Crispy Calamari with Burnt Garlic. The Steamed Scallops are also a great pick for seafood fans—delicate, yet packed with flavour.
Vegetarians will enjoy the Butter Chilli Baby Corn and Baby Potatoes—both are full of freshness and spice. Before diving into mains, we also recommend trying one of their summer special cocktails. The one we loved? The Mango Tango—a tequila-based drink with juicy mango, a spicy habanero twist, a salt rim, and a fresh mango slice. If you prefer to skip tequila, try the Gin and Tonic infused with blueberries and peppercorn—it’s got a fun, fruity twist.
When it’s time for mains, seafood lovers can enjoy dishes like Braised Fish in Garlic and Spring Onion, Braised Fish in Szechuan Sauce, Squid in Chilli and Black Bean Sauce, and Chilli Plum Prawns with a tangy kick. For those who love chicken, the Roasted Chicken in Burnt Garlic with Soya Chilli or with Oyster and Mushroom Sauce are both flavourful choices with just the right amount of spice.
There are also strong vegetarian options like the Five Treasure Vegetables, French Beans with Burnt Garlic, and French Beans with Shiitake Mushrooms—all full of bold, savoury flavours. Don’t forget to pair your main dishes with the Banana Leaf Rice or Soda Noodles—they go perfectly with the gravies and complete the meal. To finish, we tried the new Date Pancakes—an old-school Chinese dessert that you rarely see in Delhi. These crunchy sesame-coated pancakes served with vanilla ice cream are the perfect mix of hot and cold, sweet and nutty. A true treat.
Another lovely addition is the Ladies Luncheon Menu—an all-inclusive lunch at ₹1,750 per person, it’s available Monday to Thursday between 12 PM and 3:30 PM. I

Mestizo, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi
Latin spirit, right here in Delhi! Mestizo has officially landed in Priya Market, Vasant Vihar—and it’s bringing the full Latin American fiesta with it. The 135-seater restaurant plays host to live Latin music and dance performances, so your dinner often turns into a cultural escape. The food’s as bold as the vibe, think Lamb Birria, Churrasco-style Lamb Chops, Mushroom Tacos, and Dulce de Leche Churros. And don’t miss the drinks like mezcal, pisco, tequila... take your pick.
Ocho, Mumbai
When the cocktails read like a horoscope and taste like a Latin-American fever dream, you know you’ve hit gold. Ocho’s moody interiors and packed tables set the tone, but it’s the menu that really makes noise. Think smoky lamb birria tacos dunked in broth, juicy grilled tiger prawns slathered with aji amarillo, and fall-off-the-bone chimichurri lamb chops. But the real party’s in the cocktail list—13 drinks, each linked to a Mayan moon phase, layered with ingredients like mole, jalapeño tinctures, and corn foam. It's storytelling with a buzz. Our picks? The earthy, smoky “Dualidad” and the peppery, beeswax-infused mezcal and grapefruit mole liquor “Equilibrio.” It’s cheeky, bold, and weirdly spiritual—in the best way possible. Mammakila, New Delhi

In the atmospheric lanes of Mehrauli, right under the gaze of the majestic Qutub Minar, Mammakilla has quietly arrived—and it’s anything but ordinary. Tucked away behind plush velvet curtains and operating under a strict no-photos policy, this isn’t your typical bar or restaurant. It’s an immersive, high-concept experience brought to life by the ever-visionary Zorawar Kalra.
So, what is it? India’s very first Aztec-inspired bar, Mammakilla is a love letter to the mystical energy of the moon goddess it's named after, and to Delhi itself—its secrets, its seduction, and its soul. The 1300 sq. ft rooftop space has been designed as a contemporary fort, full of quiet drama and subtle theatricality. Think terracotta walls that breathe, intricate mosaic murals that seem to whisper stories, cane pendant lights that scatter soft shadows, and graffiti tucked away just beyond the obvious—this place is as much about what you don’t see as what you do.
Now to the menu. The drinks here are more like rituals than your usual cocktails. Expect bold, unconventional pairings like the Milky Way—a heady mix of whisky, hazelnut, and umami—or the Peruvian Pizza Highball, where tequila cheekily meets pesto. If you’re brave enough, try the Mango Ceviche (yes, it’s a drink), or go all in with the Smoked Pumpkin Salad—a cocktail, not a salad, we promise. And at the centre of it all is the Guéridon Cocktail Trolley, where your drink is crafted tableside to match your energy and mood. Elixirs like Orange-Vetiver, Banana-Fig, and Lotus Biscoff-Caramel set the tone for an evening that feels more like a performance than a night out.
Everything here is locally sourced and thoughtfully crafted, from the ingredients to the décor—bringing together Indian craftsmanship with global vision. As Kalra himself puts it, Mammakilla is a space that feels “ancient and futuristic, grounded yet elevated”—a moody, mystical escape made for those who live life intentionally.
