Are Highlighter Hues The Must-Try Trend Of The Season?

Updated: Nov 5, 2020

The 80's trend has made it's way back to the runway and this time it's here to stay. Let's take a look at the biggest colour trend this season!

The Spring/Summer 2019 fashion week saw the return of many retro trends, but one of the biggest trend that caught our attention were the fluorescent shades. Ranging from lime green, blinding yellow, hot pink and orange - bright neon colours ruled the runway. Despite its infamous past, the trend is here to stay.

The neon accents were spotted at various shows including Versace, Jeremy Scott , Cristiano Burani and many more. The runway was full of ensembles that were head-to-toe fluorescent, as well as ensembles that had subtle pops of neon. Designers have even added neon to evening wear in a highly sophisticated manner. Let's take a look at the biggest colour trend of the season!

Moving away from neon green, style muse Kendall Jenner wears a romantic ruffled fluorescent pink dress from one of the most recent fashion collaborations - Giambattista Valli Official X H&M. Being creative, cool and couture-like, the collection is sure to make you feel like you're in a fairytale.

Blake Lively sports the trend as she makes an appearance in fluorescent pant-suit designed by Versace. She carried the outfit with great panache and we have no reason to complain.

Designer Cristiano Burani combined the fluorescent trend with lace and pleats. Pair this skirt with a solid colour top for the best look.

Creative Director of Moschino, Jeremy Scott, brings fluorescent to the runway in his spring/summer 2019 collection. Scott's show was based on the theme of self-celebration which is clearly reflected in the collection.

Not only were neon hues spotted in athleisure, but they also made their way to evening couture. Gucci's collection featured feathered gowns in neon shades - a sure way to stand out from the classic LBD.

Not only fluorescent a big trend internationally, but the Bollywood celebrities are adapting to this trend perfectly.

Deepika Padukone sports the trend a neon green ruffled gown by Giambattista Valli for the Cannes Film Festival 2019.

Parineeti Chopra pairs an Off-white skirt with a neon green top from Zara which is a perfect street style look to remain fashion forward.

We can safely conclude that the celebrities are proving that lime green will become a 2019 summer staple. Make a dramatic and bold statement in these highlighter hues which can be worn both in the day and evening. It's time to move away from neon colours in just your workout wear and add vibrancy to your everyday look. Add this summer essential to your wardrobe now!
