Shehla Khan is a well-known name in the Indian fashion industry. She has designed clothes for the leading ladies of Bollywood, and Sonam Kapoor along with Karan Johar are her current muses. Her designs are known for soft fabrics, pastel hues and beautifully crafted silhouettes. Shehla’s style is understated and she perfectly combines glamour and vintage style.

Her latest collection, 'Cherie', features occasion wear for every kind of woman. The collection brings together traditional yet modern pieces with a modern take on Indian wear for the woman who aspires to make a statement. From white chikan lehengas to sharara pants with a blazer, all the creations have a contemporary touch to them. As an addition to her usual pastel colour palette, this season Shehla has introduced a deep burgundy tone in a concept sari worn with an exaggerated sleeve corset blouse as well as a concept cropped blouse with high waist sharara pants.

What is the inspiration behind your latest collection – ‘Cherie’?

My latest collection is inspired by the late 1980’s, and is a bold interpretation of our signature style! However, the usual accents of lace and glamour are omnipresent.

A piece of advice for brides-to-be while choosing their wedding outfits?

Do not be a slave to trends.

Choose and invest in versatile and classic pieces which have value to be reused and can be worn over years.

Alot of color!

One thing that makes your creations unique?

The subtlety.

Your current favourite fashion trend?

Lace always. I also love the bold shoulders and sleeves!

Your favourite genre of fashion?

Vintage and yet sultry.

Define your personal style?

I like to keep it classic, and I love black and white. I have a newfound love for denim, and enjoy experimenting with different kinds of trousers as well.

A celebrity you love dressing?

I love dressing all the women and girls. I have and always would enjoy it!

What are your closet staples?

Lace, black, white, denim and statement shoes.

A tune that you’re currently playing on repeat?

Slow dance by AJ Mitchell, and also, I will follow you into the dark.

Your favourite Indian and international deisgners?

There are so many! Indian would be Anamika Khanna and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Internationally, I love Saint lLaurent , Valentino , Attico , Rosario and many others .
