The Best Caterers In India To Book For Your Next Big Celebration

With Rakhi just behind us, the festive season has officially begun — and, as anyone with a wedding invitation calendar will know, shaadi season is not far behind. There is always a checklist when planning an Indian wedding. The venue needs to be booked, outfits need to be fitted, guest lists need to be negotiated and décor references need to be saved. But once the venue is locked in, there is another question that tends to take over every family conversation: What are we serving? Because at a big fat Indian wedding, food is never simply food.
While Indian weddings continue to push caterers to think bigger, the industry is also finding more opportunities. Today, people are increasingly bringing catering experts into smaller celebrations too. Intimate dinners, festive lunches, milestone birthdays and private gatherings are being treated with the same attention to detail once reserved for large-scale weddings. Sometimes, it is a beautifully designed dinner for 30 people. A great caterer, after all, can be the difference between hosting a memorable celebration and merely surviving one.
A modern catering company is no longer simply responsible for putting together a menu and serving a large number of guests. Food has become part of the overall design language of a celebration, sitting alongside décor, music, tablescaping and entertainment. "Clients today want something unique. Nobody wants the same food experience they attended at another wedding the previous weekend," says Vipul Kohli, Director at Baraat Catering. Today, weddings are moving away from one-size-fits-all menus and towards experiences that feel more personal, theatrical and considered.

"Today, clients are looking for experiences, memories, and conversations around food rather than sheer variety," says Vipun Kohli, Director of Baraat Catering.
A major force behind this evolution has been the rise of visual platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest. While these platforms have undoubtedly made clients more informed and inspired, they have also raised the bar for caterers. Dramatic food displays are becoming an important part of the overall experience. Sculptural grazing walls, dramatic seafood bars and luxurious food towers are increasingly doubling up as visual centrepieces. The challenge now is to create food that looks spectacular in photographs while still delivering the kind of flavour guests remember.
What's The Next Big Thing In Indian Wedding Catering?
When it comes to wedding catering trends for 2026, personalisation is one of the biggest movements shaping the industry. "There is a growing emphasis on curating experiences and designs that feel deeply personal to the client, rather than following a generic or templated approach," says Vineet Wadhwa, Founder & Managing Director of FIO Catering.
For years, wedding menus have often relied on familiar favourites. But now, there is a growing appetite for culinary discovery. According to Wadhwa, clients are increasingly interested in lesser-known regional Indian cuisines, authentic global food experiences and elevated interpretations of street food. This could mean Awadhi dum pukht inspired by the flavours of Lucknow, Chettinad spice-forward delicacies, Kashmiri Wazwan feasts or traditional Gujarati and Rajasthani thalis. At the same time, global food experiences are becoming more specialised. Think Oriental live kitchens serving Thai, Japanese and Korean food, Mediterranean mezze and shawarma stations or Mexican taco and nacho bars. From elaborate spreads designed for a crowd to beautifully considered menus for intimate soirées, extravagant dessert tables, healthy corners and live counters, catering companies today know that good food is only half the equation.
But as celebrations stretch late into the night, comfort food takes over with a rise in midnight indulgence counters. Chai paired with gourmet biscuits. A live Maggi counter. Fresh pasta. Bun maska.
These familiar favourites are increasingly becoming an essential part of the wedding menu, offering guests something comforting as the celebrations continue into the early hours.
So, if you are looking for a catering service that will create a memorable experience for you and your guests, we have got you covered.
