Bori Safari Lodge
📍 Dhapda, Madhya Pradesh
Set across 7.5 acres of farmland on the edge of Bori Wildlife Sanctuary, part of the larger Satpura Tiger Reserve, Bori Safari Lodge offers a quieter and more intimate way to experience the Indian wilderness. Located in Dhapada village near the sanctuary gate in Betul district, around three hours from Bhopal, the lodge is surrounded by forests, open landscapes, and rich wildlife while maintaining a deep connection to sustainability and the local community.
Thoughtfully designed by Studio Será, the lodge combines modern minimalism with rustic charm. The architecture uses local stone, hand-moulded clay tiles, natural textures, and lightweight stilted structures that sit gently within the landscape rather than overpowering it. Large windows and open spaces allow the outdoors to remain central to the experience, with uninterrupted views of wild grasslands and surrounding greenery.
The property features 12 luxury villas, including eight Luxury Rooms and four Superior Luxury Rooms, all designed with earthy interiors, rustic details, and private viewing decks overlooking nature. The Superior Luxury Rooms also include outdoor showers that further connect the stay to the surrounding landscape. Across the lodge, spaces such as the infinity plunge pool, jungle spa, library, kitchen garden, and indoor-outdoor dining areas create an atmosphere that feels calm, immersive, and deeply rooted in the wilderness around it.
Wildlife experiences form the heart of the stay. Expert-led safaris through Bori Wildlife Sanctuary and Satpura National Park focus on the region’s celebrated “Super Six” including the tiger, leopard, sloth bear, wild dogs, gaur, and the Indian giant squirrel, often considered the mascot of Satpura. Unlike more crowded wildlife reserves, the safaris here feel slower, quieter, and deeply personal. Beyond game drives, guided nature walks, birdwatching, cycling trails, sundowners, and village visits allow guests to experience the region beyond its wildlife alone.
Dining at Bori Safari Lodge follows the same immersive approach. Meals are served across indoor and outdoor settings, including private dining experiences and dinners beneath the stars. The cuisine remains simple, seasonal, and comforting, while the lodge’s in-house bar celebrates local flavours through cocktails such as the Mahua Martini, Smokey Gond Elf, and Mahua Mirage. Evenings often end around bonfires accompanied by local folk performances and the sounds of the forest nearby.
