Samode Haveli
📍 Jaipur, Rajasthan
Tucked away within the vibrant old city of Jaipur, Samode Haveli is a 225-year-old heritage mansion that offers a rare sense of calm amidst the energy of the Pink City. Part of the Samode Hotels collection, the Haveli, once the royal townhouse of the Samode family, has evolved into one of Jaipur’s most iconic boutique stays. Hidden behind ornate gateways and winding lanes, the property feels like a secret sanctuary where history, art, and hospitality come together.
Stepping inside the haveli reveals a world shaped by intricate craftsmanship and old-world charm. Architecturally, the property retains all the romance expected of a noble Rajasthani residence: mirrored alcoves, arched corridors, hidden terraces and courtyards that reveal themselves gradually as one moves through the space. Hand-painted frescoes, delicate mirror work, arched corridors, marble floors, and vibrant courtyards filled with bougainvillaea create spaces that feel grand. Winding passageways lead through the historic mardana and zenana sections of the property, opening into hidden alcoves, shaded terraces, and peaceful courtyards that invite peace away from the hustle and bustle of the city outside. Among its most striking features is the haveli’s private stepwell, one of the few remaining within a private residence in Rajasthan. Once used as both a water reservoir and a cool retreat from Jaipur’s desert heat, the stepwell today becomes one of the property’s most memorable dining settings, softly lit with hundreds of diyas for intimate private dinners.
The 50 rooms and suites are individually designed, blending period details with modern comforts while retaining the spirit of the haveli’s royal past. Four-poster beds, antique furnishings, marble bathrooms, standalone Elizabethan bathtubs, and handcrafted décor create an atmosphere of luxury. The Sheesh Mahal suites, adorned with original frescoes and intricate mirror work, remain among the property’s most celebrated spaces.
Dining at Samode Haveli is woven into the property's experience. The main restaurant serves regional Rajasthani dishes alongside international favourites, while the poolside and lobby bars offer quieter corners to unwind beneath fruit trees and beside flowing fountains.
Positioned within walking distance of landmarks such as City Palace and Hawa Mahal, Jaipur unfolds through guided walks across bustling bazaars, hidden temples, tea stalls, textile workshops, and historic landmarks such as Amber Fort and Jantar Mantar. Evenings often end on the terrace, where winter sundowners, kite flying, and views across Jaipur’s rooftops capture the timeless charm of the city.
