The Kin

📍 Mumbai, Maharashtra

Launched by sibling duo Imrun Sethi and Guneet Singh, The Kin Hotel brings a playful, design-forward energy to Mumbai’s boutique hospitality scene. Located just steps away from the shoreline of Shivaji Park, the 15-key hotel was born from the idea of creating a stay experience that feels deeply personal — one that carries the warmth and comfort of home while still sparking curiosity and discovery at every corner.

Housed inside a building that once operated as a modest two-star hotel owned by the founders’ grandfather, The Kin has been completely reimagined into a vibrant, art-filled space that reflects the siblings’ shared love for design, travel, culture, and storytelling. Designed by architect Samir Raut of Atelier Nowhere, the hotel embraces an visual language where every space feels layered, expressive, and intentionally unexpected.

The 15 rooms and suites each carry their own personality. From cosy Boutique Rooms to sea-facing luxe accommodations and spacious corner suites flooded with natural light, every space blends tactile materials like Jaisalmer stone, chevron-patterned floors, vintage accents, and handcrafted details with a relaxed residential feel. Some rooms open up to sweeping views of the Arabian Sea, while others feel cocooned within warm textures and curated décor. A defining aspect of The Kin is that nearly everything guests encounter can be purchased — from artworks and light fixtures to bespoke bed throws, furniture pieces, and the hotel’s signature sKIN toiletries.

The lobby doubles as a gallery, while corridors unfold like a visual diary of the founders’ travels and influences. Interiors are filled with whimsical details — winged tasselled armchairs, melting metal-inspired tables, sculptural floor lamps, retro push-button rotary phones sourced from Delhi’s antique markets, and hidden “rabbit holes” of discovery tucked across common spaces. One of the standout corners is the under-the-stairs vinyl listening booth, designed as a quiet retreat where guests can slow down with records, coffee, or cocktails.

The hotel also houses a 24-hour concept store curated by Guneet Singh, showcasing fashion, design objects, coffee table books, hand-poured candles, floral installations inspired by Dadar’s iconic flower market, and products by independent Indian artisans and makers.

Experiences at The Kin move with the rhythm of the guest. Mornings may begin with yoga or HIIT sessions, afternoons with terrazzo tub salt baths, and evenings with cocktails and music at the hotel’s lively restaurant-bar, Terttulia. Serving modern European cuisine, fresh salads, grills, comfort dishes, and healthy bowls, the restaurant shifts effortlessly into a social bar space by sunset with DJs, cocktails, and live music nights.
