Locally sourced bamboo, timber, stone, and cane come together to create lightweight, breathable structures that naturally encourage passive cooling and ventilation. Rustic cottages with private balconies open out to sweeping wilderness landscapes and serene river views, while interiors celebrate the rich craft traditions of Northeast India through handwoven textiles, tribal artistry, and earthy natural materials.

At Rhino & River, local cuisine forms an integral part of the overall experience. Assamese culinary heritage takes centre stage at the retreat’s signature restaurant, Baan Kaahi, a farm-to-table dining space offering curated Assamese tasting menus conceptualised by chef Kashmiri Nath, alongside Indian, Pan-Asian, and Western offerings. Guests can savour regional specialties such as Masor Tenga, Joha Bhaat, and Kola Bora Saul’or Payox, while the Apong Bar serves locally inspired cocktails paired with premium spirits.

The retreat continues to celebrate the cultural essence of the region through a range of immersive experiences.
